About

Where exactly did the name Nib & Flow Design come from? When trying to decide on a business name, I kept thinking back to the term 'ebb and flow' and how everything on this earth has a natural ebb and flow, but especially handwriting and calligraphy. As the ink flowing from the nib hits the paper, it swells with passion and energy and then it diminishes to thin lines creating episodes of quietness, calmness, and space. Up and down, back and forth, give, and take, push and pull, ebb and flow - Nib and Flow.

OWNER + DESIGNER

Hi there! I'm Meagan Evans Russell, the artist behind Nib & Flow Design. My 3 assistants, who happen to be four-legged and furry, are the strict enforcers of taking a break and snuggling.

I love living life to its fullest and using everyday experiences to inspire my work. I try to look at the big picture, but have a tendency to get caught up in the extremely intricate details. I'm a lover of patterns and simple math, chocolate chip cookie cakes, and taking naps on beautiful sunshine-y days.

Before starting Nib & Flow Design, I worked as a Packaging Designer for Nรปby and as a Product + Packaging Designer for Hobby Lobby Corporate - Art & Creative Department.

EDUCATION + ORGANIZATIONS

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design from Louisiana Tech University. While in school, I was an active member of Phi Mu and served as Recording Secretary my senior year. The journey to Nib & Flow Design began after attending a beginner's calligraphy workshop. My love for calligraphy grew immediately and shortly after attending my first workshop, I became a member of the International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH). Through joining IAMPETH, I have been given the opportunity to learn from some of the world's most renowned calligraphers.
